for Jewel, The Backstreet Boys or Celine Dion," says guitarist Chieli
Minucci (pronounced "Kee ALE ee Min OO chee"). "Now I want to introduce
them to contemporary jazz music with an edge. Melodic instrumental music
that challenges the listener should no longer be just the realm of tried
and true jazz fans." A co-founder of Special EFX, one of the pioneering
and most popular groups in the young history of smooth jazz, Minucci
long ago established his credentials as a superb guitarist, songwriter,
arranger, producer and bandleader in his own right. With his fourth
solo project, Sweet On You, he expands on his ongoing interest in melding
pop and jazz, melody and groove. By bringing touches of flamenco and
samba, electronica and hip-hop ["Sweet On You"] to the mix, Minucci
has come up with another refreshing and diverse collection of contemporary
instrumental music that alternately soothes and stimulates. And once
again, he's holding nothing back on guitar.
