Ladysmith Black Mambazo, South Africa's greatest vocal harmony group, has taken their uniquely South African style of acapella mbube harmony around the world. Their uplifting, often spiritual music has delighted concert audiences of all ages and led to collaborations with major artists from many countries including Paul Simon, Manu Dibango, George Clinton, Dolly Parton, and Youssou N'Dour, among many others. Indeed, their work with Paul Simon on the groundbreaking "Graceland" album, along with subsequent recordings, spearheaded awareness of South African culture and the related political struggle during the 1980's. Their music has been used in high-profile commercials (IBM, 7-UP) and feature films. They have themselves appeared in plays, including the critically-acclaimed " The Song of Jacob Zulu ." In short, Ladysmith Black Mambazo, with over forty albums to their credit, has become one of the most recognizable (and celebrated) musical sounds in the world. |
