No one in reggae sounds like Eek-A Mouse. His unique vocal style-a nasal modal scatting-caused him to be called a "sing-jay" by some. But the mouse prefers to be known simply as a singer who uses unusual vocal techniques to achieve affects. He burst upon the scene in 1981 with "Wa Do Dem," a humorous ditty with a serious message. Succeeding LPs followed in the same vein with some songs focusing on the darker side of life ("Terrorists In The City") while other stress MouseÕs whimsical humor ("Mouse And The Man"). |
